Black Friday is Coming - How to survive it!

by - 12:58

On 23rd of November! We are 8 days away from the chaos of the photo above.
Black Friday, even though it's an American Tradition that officially starts the Holiday shopping,
it has gone global the last years.
This is the best selling day of the stores of the year!
So, you can understand that on that day there are the highest amount of shoppers of the year too!
I have lived this day as a store worker - a nightmare I know! - so I will give you the inside tips and tricks!

1.  If you can, do not go shopping!!!
Well from my point of view it doesn't worth the trouble.
So many people everywhere! You are not able to park your car, to navigate inside the shops, impossible to try anything without waiting for hours maybe, the cash desk lines are a nightmare and so time consuming! So, after being obliged to be in so much stress as a worker I do not want to live that also as a consumer.
And also the deals, at least in Greece, rarely worth this amount of tiredness.

2. If you want to shop try online shopping.
A lot of stores that will have these great Black Friday offers
they also have online sites that they will carry the same prices! So, why being in so much trouble when you are able with a few clicks from your sofa to have the same items delived at your door?
Just try to visit the online sites early, since the items with big discounts always have limited availability.

3. If you still want to shop another option is you local shops.
If you want to go and walk and have a good time with your friends outdoors you can visit your local shops. The traffic will be bearable and they might amaze you with the offers that they will have since
they want to be competitive and attract as many customers as they can from the big brands and shopping malls.
And you will also support local businesses that they have such a hard time surviving!

4.  If you still want to visit big shopping centers and malls.
First of all, have patience!
This is not the day to complaint!
You will wait everywhere more - just accept it!
You might not be able to find a parking spot inside the shopping center or if you do there might be long lines and a lot of time to go in and out.
There will be long lines at the cash desk and you will be waiting a long time to pay.
It is a fact and as many cash desk employees will be working the result will be the same.
Because the shops are not built and organized to have as many customers as they have on that day. But they will still do the best that they can to service you. And believe me the people working there are very good in what they do.
And they also do not want to make you miserable by making you wait as long as possible.
They want to have you out of there as soon as possible because in that way there can have more shoppers that they too will pay and they will make more money!
Try to enjoy every moment and all the difficulties that you will face will not change your goal!
That you are there to have a good time shopping with family and friends.
So, keep a smile on at all times! Or at least try your best for that!

5. What to shop?
Make your research beforehand.
Visit the shops' online sites that you are interested in the days before.
A lot of them will have their offers presented ahead of time to attract more customers.
Or by visiting or calling and talking to the employees they might be able to give you more information for that day.
Try to have in mind what you need because this is easiest day to get carried away with all the incredibly low prices.

6. Be early.
Try to go shopping as early as possible.
During the day the traffic will increase and the difficulties will multiply.
Also the great bargains will be out of stock within the first few hours - availibility is limited and the customers are many!

7. Make your research
If you want something specific research its price the days before. In the store that you are interested in and also online or in other stores of your area.
There are incidents of fraud for that day and it is best to be prepared.
Some stores may rise their prices and look as if items are on sale when they are actually not or to appear with a higher discount that the really have.
You can report incidents like this - and you should - if you believe that something is happening. If you have done your research you will also have the evidence to support it!

8. Ask for the after sales policy
Before you pay ask about the after sales service.
Can you exchange the item? Can you return it?
Can you change the size if you wish to?
A lot of shops even have a no return policy for the items sold on that day due to the big discounts.
Be informed before purchasing. Because after the payment you accept the store's policy.

9. Inspect the items you will buy thoroughly
There will be items with huge discounts on that day - with 80% and 90% off.
Check why these items have such a low price.
Some might be from previous seasons, some might be defective or some are the last pieces (and there is no possibility to change them).
It is ok to purchase any items from the above categories but you have to have that information before you purchase it.

10. Wait for Cyber Monday
The Monday after Black Friday is Cyber Monday, the day with the biggest discounts of the year specifically for the online shops.
So, if you like to shop online and want to avoid the Black Friday panic,
shop on Cyber Monday from the comfort of your home!
There will be online shops that they might have even better offers from the Black Friday deals!!!

Happy Black Friday Shopping!

xoxo
